Albertans Face Barriers
to Safe, Affordable Housing

LET’S CLOSE THE GAP

A New Beginning Starts With Dignity

Everything we do follows a simple, supportive path: Stability → Skills → Work → Independence → Dignity → Community Engagement.

Thousands of individuals struggle to find where they belong—how and where they fit within the broader circle of life. When people face barriers to stability due to limited income, limited access to practical life skills, systemic challenges, or difficult personal transitions, their safety and sense of dignity can be deeply impacted—especially when food and housing insecurity are part of the picture. We support transitional communities with housing and skill-based training.

Dignity 1st is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering people through these life transitions. We support individuals in overcoming obstacles, discovering purpose, and building fulfilling lives that strengthen both themselves and their communities. By prioritizing skills development, employment pathways, and sustainable social enterprises, we are intentionally laying the groundwork for future housing initiatives that are community-rooted, responsible, and client-centred.

At the heart of our work is a simple belief:
Every person has inherent worth, potential, and the right to live with dignity.
